NOTICES OF MOTION
I.—The Chairman to move :—“T’liat the accounts presented lor the month of December. 11123. and authorised for payment hy the Tinuuec Committee, timounting to £ he approved
and payment of same conlirmed. ‘2.—The Chairman to move: —“That the accounts presented for the month of January. 11)2-1 and recommended for payment by the Finance Committee, amounting to £ he now approved, and passed lor payment accordingly.”
3. The Chairman to move: —“That the Council reappoints Arthur Chiton Hup. as its representative on the Hokitika High School Board of Governors for the ensuing term.”
4. The Chairman to move:—“That Wednesday afternoon of each week be declared the weekly Imll-holnlav fot the Comity of Westland, lor the en-
suing year. ~>.—The Chairman to move:— “That public notic be given of file intention of the Council to add ten per cent, to all rates outstanding after Saturday. February. Oth. 192-1. o,—The Chairman to move : “That the. Public Works’ Department report as to ways and means for restoring Kakapotabi bridge, and visit the site as early as possible in respect to providing the best temporary means of crossing, pending tile rebuilding of the bridge."
7. —The Chairman to move - “That representations be made to the Commissioner of Lands with respect to opening land for occupation adjacent to bake. Katiicri suitable for week-end dwellings on such terms and conditions as mac bo thought desirable to fix."
B.—Cr. Murdoch to move : —“'l hat the Council recognises the economic benefits that would follow the fillies! possible use ol all sawmill irniuway-, and it will support as in the past, any constitutional action that may lie fakOli with a view to the foregoing economic benefits. Imt the ( ouneil deplores the utter lack of all sense of justice and equity shown by certain public bodies which advocate the violation of the rights ol: sawmillers. in the direction of vesting the control of their properly in a Government Department. whose interests are at variance with, or who may have power to commercially compete with those whose properly they seek to control, and this Council further affirms the principle that no man’s property should lie used against his will in any commercially competitive manner, or otherwise than in accordance with the conditions under which such property was legally acquired.” S). Cr. Crimmoud to move:—“That provision be made as soon as possible for the restoration of Wataroa Gorge track, and Overseer Yfillucr lie instructed to report on the <ost oi same forthwith.”
10. _Cr. Grimmond to move:—"That the Wailm river track, north hank, he restored as soon as possible for the safotv and t oiivenience of traffic.”
