BANK OFFICERS’ GUILD.

ANNUAL CONFERENCI

AYELLINGTON, January 28

The Executive Council of the New Zealand Bank Officers’ Guild, ’compris-

ing twenty-three delegates from different parts of the Dominion, met in AYellington for their fifth annual cmifc rente.

In moving the adoption oi the annual report the retiring president, Air C\ A. Macdonald (Wellington) re.lerred to ibo steady growth of the membershin which had reached 2087. The year had been one of quiet, steady progress. The guild now was firmly established and had come to he recognised its an integral, valuable part of the hanking system of the Dominion. Steady impi crement was taking place in the coudiuons of the service in the various banks for which the guild might rightly claim a share of credit. Reference was in ado to the fact that the banks had taken steps to introduce unitormji y in their note issue, a matter which been brought helorc- them by the guild. The important mailer of endorsements on hills ol exchange was being carefully considered by the column tee. 'Hie president ixingratulaled members on Iho cordial relationship that existed between tho guild aiid the authorities of the banks aifd spoke with pleasure of the progress the guild had made during the four years of its

existence. .Many matters of importance to members of the guild were discussed by the conference during the session. Delegates from each of the six banks discussed various matters oi mutual interest with the executive officers of their own particular hanks. The election of officers resulted: president Air 1,. C. Hawk (Wellington; vice-presidents Messrs G. Glen (Auckland). AY. G. Aliller (Palmerston North), L. AY. Fleming (Christchurch) and It. AY. Jack (Invercargill): executive committee. Afessrs AY. P. Newton (Union Bank of Australia). J. Shaw and G. Henderson (Bank of New Zealand). W. B. AYilliams and E. 0. Edwards (National Bank of New /calami). N. B. Barkman (Bank of AnsIralasia), 1!. Archibald (Bank of New fSciilli Wales), and E. P. AA’ild (Comrneieial Bank of Australia); honorary auditor. Mr P AT. Fookes. Domestic (•niumitlees also were elected.
