From Kumara Borough Council reporting the license money collected for the year totalled £32o.—Received. From stationmnster, railway, Hokitika, staling the water used at the station was being conserved as much as possible.—Received. From Department of Health asking fm- notices to he served on various householders asking for improvement of conditions. —Received.
From same, re suggested altera lions to "sanitary service.—Received lvfered to Committee of whole Council to consider.
From Blackball, Ngabere and Papnroa Excursion Committees asking for u.-e of Cass Square on February 2nd.— Received and request granted. From C. E. Sparkos applying for an increased allowance owing to extra sanitary work.—Received, A vote of £l2 was agreed to.
From J. King and AY. Westbrook asking for water connection. —Received and request granted. The Town Clerk -..worted the water in the icsrvoir was 4ft. Jin. tho lowest since the Exhibition opened. Tn connection with an account for repairs to intake at Lake Kailiori. the account was referred to the Public Works Committee to deal with, the amount considerably exceeding the expected cost involved. REPORTS. From Treasurer reporting receipts £l3O 10s 3r. payments £320 12s Oil, credit balance £IOB 11s 10d, loan account credit Cl 12 7s oil. Received. Accounts recommended by the T‘insure Committee were passed for payment. OVERSEER'S REPORT. December being the month for a general (lean up. and there being a scarcity of horses and drays, construction of streets at railway crossings and the hill in Rolleslon St. were held over until alter the holidays, as all the horses and drays avaiial.de were required to remove spoil from the grader. The grader, horse drawn, cleaned up the principal streets and did good work for the time engaged, one week. \|| the open drains south-east of Park Street have been cleaned out and growth cut, and streets mown. pipes have been laid in Brittan St. as far as the bowling green, also in Bealev Street for a distance of between 1 liree and four chains towards Hampden Street. Streets in most parts of the town have been repaired, a considerable qiianitv of beach shingle and H'utc has been used. Revel! St. and lootpaths have been Idled in worn places, with, asphalt During the month two trips have been made over the pipe line from the Reservoir to the bake, leaks stopped and air valves attended to. One faulty pipe has been taken out in Hall St. and a new one put m. In the pact month the water service has „• -j. :::.cd a lot of work through leakjU out the town.

Mr Perliam suggested the bonne procure a number of wire waste paper baskets in he placed at various places in the streets to collect waste papers. 1 1 was resolved to procure a nnnd>et and give the suggestion a trial.
