The Inspector of Fire Brigades (Mr T. T. Hugo) inspected the Hokitika Fire Brigade last night. There was a good muster under Supt. Braddon. The steam engine was taken out and worked well. Then two, three and four men hose practices were carried out. The Inspector expressed himself as well satisfied with the work done. The Westland A. and P. Association's Show takes place on the Hokitika racecourse on Tuesday ami AAodnesday next. The entries are ol a substantial nature, and include (12 entries in cattle sections from Canterbury. All tile classes have filled well and there promises to be good competition. Ihe Committee have been busily engaged in making the necessary arrangements, and tie* racecourse is now all ready to receive the stock. The usual sporting events on the programme promise to fill well and everything points to the Show being a very successful one.
