Westland Branch of Canterbury Progress League.
TUESDAY. JAN. 22m1. The Branch met at 7.80 o’clock. Present: Messrs 1). .1. Evans (Vioe-Presi-dent), W. Butler, J. C. Macfarlane. T. W. Dull. A. H. Richards, A. G. l'ilkington. and J. Morris. An apology was made for the absence of Dr Teiehelmann (President) absent at Okarito.
The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed and the outward correspondence approved.
INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From J. Myers, President of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, thanking the League Executive for hospitality and assistance rendered during the recent visit of the WellingImi delegation.—Received with thanks. Front Leigh Hunt, Wellington, on
same subject, and expressing satisfaction ai the success attending the Exhibtion. anti offering every assistance. Received and accepted with thanks.
From District Traffic Manager stating that for the proposed school exclusion to Arthur’s Pass thirteen ears and a van could be taken to accommodate 750 children and adults in charge.—Received. The Secretary stated he had ascertained about 800 children would wish to travel when the excursion could be arranged. From Graham Bros.. Waiho, torwarding donation of £o towards cost of Franz Josef maps.—Received with thanks.
From Araliura Farmers’ Union, asking support to complaint made to Railway authorities respecting truck for perishable poods.—Received and supported, the Chairman remarking that it was necessary to have better proviso!) made for the trans])ort ol Imttor ami cheese, and to. avoid delays at sidings etc. If the dairying industry was to In' fostered on the Coast a change was necssarv in regard to the facilities for transport by rail. From F. Board. Christchurch. resigning position as Branch representative on the Canterbury League, owing to removal to Wellington.—Received, and letter of thanks to he sent for past services. it was resolved to ask .Mr A. Mahan to represent the Branch on ilie Lfaguf. luoroirrs. The Secretary reported in regard to the luncheon held at the opining ol th" Kxhiblion. and the accounts wore pased for payment. Mr Butler reported having met the liangiora delegation on Teli.di of the Branch.
