RECORD PRICE FOR WOOL. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 21
The wool sales wore continued and the demand remained keen, prices showing an improvement on the previous sale and equalling a rise of three halfpence to two pence all round. A Dominion record for hall'brcds of 29;h1. was realised for seven hales from E. W. Roberts of Anama. Top prices were: .Merino 32’,<1. hall bred 29iid. Corriedale 29.R1. three-quarter bred ‘JGjd and crossbred 23‘,d.

An inquest was hold 011 Y\ illiani Millies. railway signal inspector, who was found dead with his head over a gas stove with the gas turned on. I'ho evidence showed he had been worried over the purchase of a property. He was not in tinaueial difficulties. He also had been worrying about his work. The Coroner said Gillies was evidently a valued servant of the Railway Department. There was a statement by one witness that lie had Ixen overworked. There was no doubt he had dolilierntcly taken his life. It seemed that an aggregate of circumstances had caused him to do what he hail done.
