.M AHi STS SUSPENSION TO STAND. fjlV TIU.IXItAI'tf—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, January Hi. In connection with the dispute lietnccn the Alarist Football Club. of Christchurch, and the Canterbury RugI a t moil, over a match with Otago Varsity team, as a result of which tile M.:lists v»vre suspended, an appeal came later before the t'nion. At the N.Z. l'uion to-night, the Canterbury delegate expressed surprise at a statement alleged to have been made by AT r Deaji, (( hairnum of the New Zealand Rugby t'nion) that the Alaiist Club were justi-T-d in not playing if the rules did not suit it. From this the common interpretation would mean that all rules a cre merely a farce. There was no appeal from the decision of the Canterbury Union, which had imposed the suspension of the Marists, except to a gi neral meeting of the Union. Afr Dean denied having uttered such absurd statements as alleged. It was decided that the Marists had no right of appeal with the New Zealand Union, and that the suspension would have to stand.
