MONDAY, JAN. 14th. The Board met at 8 p.m. Present: Messrs J. J. Breeze (Chairman), T. TV. Duff. L. H. Morel. E. A. Wells, W. Jeffries, (}. H. Blank and IT. Meharrv. The minutes were confirmed and outward errespondenee approved. TN WAR D CORRESPONDENCE. From Dr Yalintine, re Otira Hospital.—Received. The Chairman stated the hospital was closed on the Pith. From same re returns.—Received. From same, complimenting the Board on tile small amount of travelling expenses of members.—Received. From same approving of appointment of Dr Fisher as medical officer at K inn a ra.—R ccei ved. From Hon J. G. Coates, stating it was proposed not to continue the Public Works grant towards the upkeep of Otira hospital, and that the Railway Department would not create a precedent by paying a subsidy.—Received.

The House in Committee reported matters at hospital wore in good order;

that feme repairs were necessary in the operating mom; that procuring of food transmitters be left to Mr Allan to procure.—Received and adopted. The Treasurer reported receipts £llß2 IPs Bid. pavments £lllO Js 2d. debit balance £OO 2s -Id. Building account receipts £.028 17s Id. payments £rm .'ls od. Received.

Accounts amounting to £o‘27 18s Id

were passed for payment. ATr Duff urged that the completion of the works in hand be pushed on as cjiiickly as possible and also that the contractor for the water tower be urged to burry the completion oi the work.—Agreed to. The Boanl resolved to hold the next meeting on Feb. Ith. The Board rose at 0.80 p.m,
