FBI DAY, JAN. llth. The Committee met at 7 p.m. Present:— Rev A. Purehax (Chairman). Lloyd, AA'ells, Heinz, Shannon. Richards, and Preston. The minutes were read and eonfirmed and outward correspondence approved. Air Lloyd said lie wished to refer to strictures passed on him at last meetiny: owing to hi< » Usenet l me meetings. INAYARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Canterbury Education Board advising that under the Act it a oertilirated toucher applies, an uncertificaled teacher could not he appointed. - Received.
From same notitying the selection of Anne K. Gillooly as the most suitable for the South Spit school, together with a list of the other applicants.— Received. Air Lloyd moved that application lie made for the testimonials and qualifications of all the applit4iinbs. Seconded jby MV Heinz and carried.
In connection with the opening of the school, Afr Preston moved that the school reopen on Alon'day 28th. Jan. and that one half holiday for the A. and P. Show l>e given on Tuesday. 29th. Seconded by Air Lloyd and carried. From Education Board notifying that, authority had been given for the Overseer to carry out necessary repairs to the rector’s residence.—Received. From Runnnga Sweet Pea Coy. notifying annual sweet pea show on Feb. 13tli. —Received. From Runnnga Picnic Committee asking for arrangements to he made for the annual picnic on Cass Square. Received: every facility to tie given. From Teacher, South Spit reporting for Decomlx-r the roll number was 25 and average attendance 22.1. —Received. The Chairman reported a deputation had waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs in reference to the remission of the duty on the school war memorial, the Afinistcr stating lie was prepared to grant their request if the memorial were erected in a public place. It was resolved that the Secretary write the Department on the subject with a view to a. statement ol the position of the monument being obtained. The Committee rose at < .30 p.m.
