THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES
T ll k Ki i-kct ok a Capital l ew. "When thinking of a Capital Levy, the average voter calls to mind some v idl-knowM millionaire, pictures fat hank balances, and feels, as we all feel, that after ajl no paitieular calamity would fall upon society if the excesses of riches which we see around ns were removed from it.
The credit system is developed in Great Britain to an extent unknown elsewhere, and the results of tampering with it would he proportionately greater than these which we have seen on the Continent. The Capital Levy, or even the serious threat of it., in Great Britain would cause a collapse with resultant suffering and disaster unparalleled even in the gloomy records of the last lew years. •Sir Finest J. T 5. Bonn.
