BRITISH & INTERCOLONIAL EXHIBITION.

Although the' weather yesterday morning militated against the attendance at the Exhibition, the attendance for the day on ihe whole was good. As before a considerable number travelled by train from the iforth. There was a fair contingent also from the south, including the Ruatapu schoolchildren. The usual twice daily musical programmes were given by Bonetti’s band.

At the Orpheus Theatre last night there was a large attendance for the lantern lecture by Dr Teichelmaun on "Beautiful Westland.” A very fine series of views were shown, including a number of tinted pictures. The pictorial storv-eovered a trip from Otira Gorge via the lakes to South YYeslland and was followed attentively by the nndieii«-e. The oxi>lj«a»iiTrrPrf , *i ! MU*!JIJlW**Tfr Telehe!tntlnn made tiestory all the more interesting, aul gave added interest to the scenes depicted on the screen. The brilliantly lit stand of the Hokitika Gas Cov. was the centre of special attraction yesterday by the ladies to witness and glean iniormation trnm the cookery demonstrations by Miss Todhunter. medallist and qualified lecturer. Basin- making was the sun iect dealt with, and all the dainties made went off like the proverbial Pot cakes they were. Indeed the supply was not equal to the demand. Mi-s Todhunter lias made the cooking classes one of the most popular features in the Exhibition buildings. The interest displayed is governed only by tin- accommodation available about the stall. All through next week there will he twice daily demonstrations • f cooking, a special programme of subjects having been prepared.

There are large numbers of visitors arriving now specially in connect ion with the Exhibition season. By the train last evening a number of ex('misters arrived. To-night's train wnl bling also a goodly contingent. ( ',n Monday night many are expected :n connection with the jubilee celebrations. The tax on the accommodation available promises to be heavy next week, but so far, thanks to the arrangements made in advance by the Exhibition authorities, the demand has been met very satisfactorily. The programme for the evniug lias been circulated in advance, and it may be anticipated that the company will he greeted with two full houses. Intending patrons should make it a point of being early so as to KOfiiro comfortable seating.

The* Kdgeware Quarette party will make its lir.al appearance at the Orpheus Theatre on Monday night, when two concerts again will he given. The programme on Monday night will he an entire change from that ol this evening, so that patrons will he given a wide range of musical nnmhcrs. The company, by the way, ts supportoil hv a humorist, who gives interesting character sketches, which it may he expected, will not he the least interesting part ol the entertainment.
