A private message received in town jerorded the death last night, suddenly, at Wellington of Dean John Tubman. For nearly thirty years ho was stationed at Timaru. and he then came to Hokitika parish for a short period, and at the time of his death was in charge at Mcaneo, Napier. Many in this district will have kindly recollections of the deceased and will regret his sudden death. Deceased was horn in County Antrim Ireland in 1856 and was therefore 07 years of age.

There was a. large crowd at the railway station on Saturday evening to see the express arrive. The train was delayed ami did not arrive till nearly 8 o'clock.
