The official sheep returns issued by the Department of Agriculture in respect of the 1923 season show an increase of eves in New Zealand tins year, compared with last year, of 5GG.919. The official lambing estimate for tlios season reveals an estimated increase over the whole Dominion of G 00,311 lambs. The flocks cf sheep in the Dominion have considerably decreased ill the last few years, but with the improved financial position and the improved price of wool more ewe lambs will probably he kept this year, so that although there is an estimated increase ol 600,0-fl lambs if is doubtful whether shipments for the ensuing season will he much, if any, in advance of the previous year.
