On jflutrsday night in Trafalgar Square, in tin- London theatres anil restaurants, and in other places, when the results were announced, lit million listeners-in heard the results. The tentutv of the election was the early polling by the women, who mostly seemed the « keenest to vote. There was heavy polling ill the northern industrial districts. Mr Baldwin and the ether leaders of the Parties received enthusiastic ovations in their respect ire constituencies. Tile fifteen contests in Glasgow were very lively. Up to midnight to-night, there had (been 70 results announced. These showed no fewer than II Conservative losses. These losses suggest there is a strong probability that the Liberals will lend the opposition, and it is even possible that they may reach the Treasury Benches. Where the Conservatives have held their seats there has been a big turnover of votes, their majorities being reduced. In some eases they have fallen by 4000. However, it must he remembered that the results in the Conservative strongholds, in London and the Home Counties, have not vet been annoiiue-

Only six of the Liverpool Divisions have been contested. The Liberals have gained two of these (Wavertrec and West Derby), despite the fact that huge majorities were recorded therein for the Conservatives at the election a year ago. LABOUR AND LIBERAL CAINS. LONDON. Dee. 0. Out of a. total of 185 results announced to-night, the Conservatives have a net'l loss of 151 seats. Labour has a gain of II seats. The Liberal gain is HO seats. As the Conservatives are unlikely to gain any seats in the Home Counties, and as they probably will lose a few seats in Scotland, ii seems that Mr Baldwin's major!iv is gone. None ol the three parties will he aide to carry on alone. Mr In.skilf, Solicitor-General, was reflected at Bristol Central. Mr Ilugldn, the Liberal, gained Battersea North from the J’ar.-oo Commnilist, Mr Saklatvala. A Lahoorite. Chelsea, and chased tiie victorious Sir Samuel Home to bis committee-rooms, whereas Air Bartrnnd Russell, the defeated l.ahonrite. was parried shoulder high. Mr dynes (Labour) was elected for the Platting Division of Afanehester. AH Bathhone. a Liberal, won the Wavertree Division of Liverpool from Sir Harold Smith, a brother of Lord Birkenhead.
