Fltimately, it was decided to recommend the Highways Board to declare the arterial road from North Buller to South Westland a government road, as also the Coast road, Westport to Creymouth. ing highway roads in the County distriets. Correspondence was received from the Highways liotird in respect to expense- of the Council, and it was resolved to ask the Board to take a ruling on the matter from the Audit Department, and if not satisfactory to suggest to have the necessary amendment in the law passed. The District Racing Committee met at Greymoiith yesterday afternoon. Those present wore :—Messrs Coates (chair), Walton, Gilbert, Dongau. Kettle and Kvans.
