THE EXHIBITION.
GENERAL PREPARATIONS A special feature at the Exhibition will be the Radio parlour, where wireless concerts "ill he hoard every e\cuing. The room set apart for this purpose is upstairs in ihe Town Hall. The aerial which stretches Irom the fire tower to the roof of the main hall, has hi on tried out with a local plant., and is quite satisfactory. A special plant with the latest- improvements, was shipped Irom Wellington yesterday. Tile radio parlour should be one of the specially popular features of the Exhibition. Large quantities of goods and exhibits are now arriving. Several exhibitors reached law,, hist evening. Ihe interior of the building was a scene ol great- activity to-day. Among the exhibits received yesterday were some sleighs and other equipment- used in Captain Scott’s fated expedition to the South Pole. These exhibit- will he displayed in a special part of the building and on Children’s Day Scott’s lust message will he spet-tallv recited h.v a young lady.
Entries for the Exhibition race meeting to he held by the Westland Racing Cluli close with the Secretary at 9 o'clock to-night. The front of the building is now taking on a very ornate appearance. The scenic adornment is going to he very effective, and the completed front will he not the least pleasing feature of the remarkably line display the Exhibition is developing into. The whole organisation of the Exhibition promises to he a remarkable sueee.ss and a great tribute to those organising the most important event in the history of the town or district.
Inside the lighting and decorations are going to he special features. The scheme of decorations is a very striking one, giving the interior a very pleasing effect. The appearance of the main annexe, which is over three hundred feet in length, is now very striking. ami gives an excellent impression of what tin- whole Exhibition is going to he.
Westland forestry will lie well displayed. In addition to the general exhibit by the Forest Service, which will.occupy considerable space upstairs in the Town Hall, the Timber Products Committee will have a display in the Gorge avenue, off the Drill Hall. This will include several classes of local limbers etc.
Applications for season tickets should not lie delayed now. They arc fixed at a low rate for the season, and users will have excellent value by purchasing their admission tickets for the opening on Saturday week. The tickets are obtainable at the County Office.
Special train arrangements will lie made for the opening day. Front both north and south there will he good connections. A large influx of visitors may he expected for the occasion. The Ministerial party arrives the previous evening. Already the hotels are being well hooked up for accommodation over the opening days. Many of the visitors will visit South Westland also while on the Coast.
