A deputation from the Meat Council asked Dr Earle Page, Federal Treasurer, to finance its works until it could raise a levy, which it is unable to do until tlie various States have passed the necessary legislation. Unless the Commonwealth help it over the gap the Council would have to go o’li of existence.

As soon as it was decided, the Government would proceed with the manufacture of serum t■ > inoculate cattle against tiie disease. PERTH, December 5. There are several eases of the cattle ducase at Beaconsficld, near Fremantle. The Government has ordered the destruction of all cows in that area. The cattle no'-lion at the Osborne Park Shew next Saturday lias been prohibited.
