THE TAXI AICRDEIL PALAIKRSTON N'.. November 22. The murder of Ethel Ireland in a taxi-cab in London has a direct local interest, for she lormcrly resided at Palmerston North. The death recalls a. level crossing accident at Monrad Street in January, 1920. when a horse attached to a spring cart, driven by Thomas Saudl'crd. who was accompanied by bi* wife, was crashed into by the Napier express. Airs Sand ford died from her injuries. The Sand ford* were the parents of the murdered woman, who was married to Horace Ireland, wlm at the time was manager of a local jewellery establishment. The three children o! the murdered woman wore Gladys Alay, aged 8. Ethel Isabel, aged 21. and Horace Alan, aged 11 mouths. The murde'i'ed woman, accompanied by her lullier and her children.
