WESTLAND A. & P. ASSN

The adjourned meeting of the Executive Committee was held in the County Council chambers on Saturday last at 11 a.ill. Present: Mr P. Jellie (President) in the chair and Messrs C. S. Neville, A. G. Pilkington. If. Jones, C. S. Dalgliesh, J. Conning, C. F. Marshall and the Secretary.

Outward correspondence since last meeting was read and approved. Inward correspondence was read and received as follows:

From Mr C. K. Robertson, of Wellington, replying that he was hoping to make arrangements to enable him to accept the position its judge of cattle at the forthcoming show. Resolved to write asking him to judge the sheep classes also. From Mr C. Morgan Williams of Okokn. Canterbury, stating that he proposed to bring over exhibits ol Ayrshire cattle, and was endeavouring to get other breeders to do likewise. Resolved to write and thank him for interest lie i> taking in the show.

From the District Engineer of Railways, Groymouth, asking for promised data re stock loading yards at Seaview. The Secretary reported that Mr Jeffries was obtaining the information required from local auctioneers and others, but no reply had yet been received to letter sent to the Kokatabi Branch of the Farmers l. nion. The Chairman and Secretary were authorised to deal with ibis matter. 1L was resolved that the donation received from Messrs ISallantyiie and Co. Ltd., of Christchurch be expended in a silver cup to he allotted to the Friesian Cattle section, to be won two years in succession, or thrice at intervals. In this connection it was pointed out that the X.Z. Friesian Assicietion’s gold medal, value £2 2s lid would be available provided there were twenty entries at the show, and it was decided to make it special effort to obtain entries in this class. After discussion it was decided to adhere to Die usual arrangements for the dog section. Members were keen to see a special kennel club show, especially as the Canterbury Kennel Club are anxious to help, hut it was felt that for this year the additional expense necessa rv was not vail anted hv the revenue to he expected. On the motion of Mr Dalgliesh. the area of mangels, in the root crop competition, was reduced to one-eighth ot an acre. The following new members were proposed and elected: Messis F. Wade. T. Lcarmont, J. McGregor. \\ . Houston and AV. Fleming.
