A GRIEVANCE
(To the Editor). Sir.—«As a West Coaster fiom childhood on ward, as a resident of the Westland district for the last three year.-, ai.d also as a Catholic priest, may I be allowed to enter a respectful protest against the action of the Exhibition Committee in accepting a prize for a literary competition amongst childien of Westland and Grey schools under a condition which (however tin in tentional on the part of the donor) involves all insult as well as injustice to the £OO or more children attending Grey and Westland Catholic Schools, which scle'iih are subject to Government inspection, in which the Government syllabus is taught, and in which die history ef oik lountry and province is taught.
