ceived. Mr Keenan said lie would like to know the ebst of delivery) of (110 yds of gravel and why the lorry was held up. Ife maintained the lorry should he working every day, even when their driver was ill. Held over for discussion later.

It was resolved to have a road formed between Mnhinapua Creek bridge and the railway bridge over Mnhinapua Creek, at a cost of £3O. From Roadman Nolan reporting on district works including flood damage. —Received. From AAm. Olderog. offering to lease road reserve at Arahura. that lie has already had fenced, when previously leased to him by the Public Trustee.—Deceived. Mr Murdoch moved that the matter lie deferred to next- meeting to enable the standing orders ho given effect to. M r C’hosfennan seconded the motion, who stated that the previous meeting he had voted under a misapprehension of the actual position. Mr Ward said he hoped flic Council would not take sides in a neighbour's quarrel. /Mr Jeffries suggested that the Council offer to Mr Agncw the portion on which his pigstye is erected and to Mr Olderog the portion he has fenced in. The Chairman said fhe Council
could not give n title to the ground, but if the neighbours affected could come to an agreement then lie did not think the Council would object. The motion was ruled in order and the discussion ended. FINANCE COMMITTEE'S DEPORT. 1. —Your Committee has the honor to report that the accounts presented for the month of October. 1023, have been carefully examined, and hog to recommend that the amount as approved, totalling Cl 113 19s Sd, he passed for payment. 2. —The Committee further recommends that the direction in last report authorising a deduction from roadmen’s wages absent without leave, he given effect to. 3. —With respect to the Overseer's salary it is recommended the County Chairman, Chairman of I’inanee, and the Clerk deal with the matter of repairs to Mr Milliter’s vehicle up to a reasonable sum. •E—Regarding Commission to sit at Greymoutli on the 20th insl in respect in heavy traffic on Kumara Borough roads, it is recommended the County Solicitor and Overseer represent the ( onnei!. and the Chairman and Clerk attend if fleccs«nry.—Received and adopted. A quantity or iron work was repaired and repiaced, and the whole of the tension rods screwed up will] the result, that the structure is in fair order for ordinary traffic, hut not for loaded motor lorries.

Tiie County motor carted a quantity of material for Kokatahi road repairs from the Hokitika river bench. the main road between Four Mile Crack Bridge and Goldshorough. A supply oi gravel v.a< carted for repairs to ATi r - ehell’s and Cemetery road, Stafford, and repairs effected to flit* lower end of the Star track between the railway and the sea beach at Awatuiui. Temporary repairs were partly effected to a portion of the retaining wall of Waime,a Creek Bridge at Stafford, to prevent the creek overflowing the road beyond Stafford township. Bondman tildelog effected repairs to motor worn holes oil Kumara Junction, Larrikins' L'Oopline. Kumara Beach and llnkitikuKnmam mail. SOUTHERN BIDING. Roadman AA\ Holley attended to repairs on Doss road, principally raking and blinding of metal and rising of subsided approach to South Creek Bridge, epairs were also effected to the dec!;-
ing of several platform culverts and bridges, and a defective culvert beyond South Creek Bridge removed and replaced with 7/12 inch diameter concrete pipes. A defective culvert near the T’otara Sawmill was also removed and renewed with i 18 inch diameter pipes and the drain opened on the south side of the road immediately beyond Woolhouse Road to divert the creek drainage that has been flowing over the roadway for some considerable time. Roadman AY light attended to minor repairs on Waitalm Road, also to screwing up a quantity of loose holts and clearing and tarring the girders in Mikonui traffic bridge. Depairs were effected to Robertson. Petersen’s and Wanganui Flat Bonds by breaking metal. patching with gravel and raking with tlie horse-drawn drag. Attention was also given to the draining of Robertson road. Little Wanganui Track was widened for fifteen chains in length sufficiently to allow this portion to he used for rough vehicle traffic. La Fontaine Creek clearing and deepening was continued and approximately 18(1 to 190 cubic yards of gravel and stone removed with the drag scoop.
