Usino Sami Hills Practically. A good illustration of the fact that the sand hills fringing the coast ol tins district are not. necessarily useless for productive purposes if only they could he ‘'fixed" intend of allowed to drift as at present, is given in a patch of lucerne of about a chain square growing among the marram grass on the Hon. Edward Newman’s property within 50 yards of the beach near Levin. Examined by a Levin “Chronicle" i epieseniative recently. the plants appeared to he quite healthy with an excellent colour and making gord growth, while one plant, obviously a young one, which was pulled up, showed a well-developed root system in which the main root was three feel in length.
