Mr Evans, the President. presided. anil line! ilio Mayor on TiL right anil the TTon. Miclicl on his left. A mono those present were Mi- Ooulsoii. (Deputy Mayor), anil Mr Aldridge (conductor). and .several members of the, Minstr-ls and Oieliestta. Ap.dogies were recoiled from Captain Stedman, Area Ofiicer. Air liyaii. Grey R.S.A., and several others. Messrs l.anghton Bros, were responsible for the entering, which v.as tastefully laid by tho ladies committee. The table was decorated with red. white and blue colors, and the t'nion dark, "ew Zealand (lag. and ot!c-.rs adorned the walls. Mr Sutton, of Christchurch, an Australian soldier, presided at the piano most ably, and added very greatly to the harmony of the evening. Several toasts were honored. “The King'’ proposed by the Chairman. •‘The Defence Forets” proposed by Hon .Michel and leplied to by Lieut-. T’ark and Cock; “Parliament'' proposed by the Alayor and responded to by Hon. Miehel; “The R.S.A.” proposed by Alibi. Af. Cimlson and replied to by the President; “The R.S.A. Afinstrels and Orchestra” proposed by the President and replied to by Messrs Aldridge and Tiinbreil; “The A'eterans” proposed by Air J. Bain and responded to by Messrs AVallace. Richardson and Stuart; “The Visiters” proposed by Air T. Stuart, and replied to by Messrs Sutton and Creber; “The Ladies” proposed by Mr ,T. Menzies. and replied to by Mr E. Bawdcn; “Absent Comrades" proposed by the President.

Entertaining items wore rendered by Messrs Aldridge, Bain. Caldwell, A. Dowell. “Wright. E. Lynch. S. Brooks, Cooper. Pickett and Oothard. many of wliieli were encored and all heartily enjoyed, the musical portion being a marked success. Afr Sutton who presided at the piano was equal to all demands on bis services. The gathering concluded shortly before midnight with the singing of Auld Lang S\no and the National Anthem.
