How many persons can remember the plays in which .Mr Sothern has scored success!' Vet you will find that if you mention Sothern’s name you will get the response: “Oh yes, he played in If I Were King.” The character of Francois Villon, enacted on tlue stage by .Mr Sothern. seems peculiarly fitted for William Farnum. and the Fox star is said to portray it with all the artistry that years ol stage experience have given him. William Farnum has done some splendid work lor the screen. 11 is pictures are always worth seeing; but when lie appears in a story like “If I Were King" he stands out above all other film stars. William Fox is giving the public many notable productions, but we have yet to see a more entertaining and gripping picture than “II I Were King." which Justin Tluully McCarthy orgiualy wrote lor F., 11. Sothern as a stage play and about the same time published the story in hook form. The play, as most will remember was a huge success, and more than a million copies of the hook have been sold. .Mr Fox's screen production was admirably directed by ,J. Gordon Edwards from the scenario by K. Lloyd Sheldon. The settings arc beautiful and the acting throughout line. Justin bluntly McCarthy, we understand, was enthusiastic when lie saw the Fox production at a special showing in London.
