DIAMOND WEDDING.

To-day, two ol the oldest and most esteemed residem* ot Hokitika. Air and Alls W. A. Th ompson. of AVeltl Street, celebrate their diamond wedding. Air Thompson was born at Batli in IS-ll and married Ellen, a daughter ot AI r Stephen Penny of Salisbury, at Bishopstone. Wiltshire, England, on Nov. bib. 1863. They left for New Zealand shortly alter, landing at Lyttelton, and remained in Canterbury until 1805, when they came to the Coast and settled at Hokitika. Air Thompson ennimencing and carrying on business as a livery stable keeper, and later the well-known carrying business now being continued by his sou. Air ]■’. AY. Thompson. Afr and Airs Thompson have been sterling citizens and are deservedly held in very high esteem in the community. ALr Thompson has filled many public positions in the town and was for many years a member of lho Borough Council, Hospital Committee, and School Committee, and is the "father” of the Westland Racing Club. The wedded couple have issue two daughters (Aliss Kin Thompson and Airs .1. U. AA'ard) and two sons (Air Frank Thompson and Air Henry Thompson), all esteemed residents of iirtown. There are abo nine grandchildren. Air and Mr, Thompson have been the recipients of many hearty congratulations i n their anniversary, with good wishes that they will long continue to enjoy their lifelong contract, with happiness and good health.
