the Coal Mine Owners Association, is due back in Wellington front the West Coast on Sunday morning. A telegram received from Air Hi-hop by the Coal Mine Owners' Association states that a conference between the representatives of tile Association and miners’ unions was held on Wednesday. After sitting all day Wednesday, however, it broke up without arriving at any settlement. The employers, Afr Bishop stated, had done their utmost to reach a settlement, but the miners’ delegates had held out for impossible terms. REEKTON. Nov. 1. Air Bishop, Secretary of the Coal Alitie Owners’ Federation, na-sed through Reefton to-day. lie stated that lie had addressed all the Unions in the Puller district and laid tile position before them. He said the owners had offered to submit the dispute to the Conciliation Court, and scrap trie Agreement. Their last word was pes-d----mistic as to the set tlement of the dis-' pure.
