OEXEH.VL Tlie Chairman referred to the improvement being made by the Caledonian Society to the corner plot on Cass Square where the Burns Memorial stood. He hoped the other plots would l.e treated similarly as funds permitted. Mr 1 i-v:lie thought the fencing of the triangle plots might bo done away with, and more attention given to ihc ornamentation of the ground. As the Borough Councillors would he visiting the Square the following day. it was decided to meet and discuss matters on the ground.
The Chairman slated it would be necessary to close some of the gates temporarily, to permit ol ground improvements, including the cricket field, so as to prevent the public making unsightly tracks across the grass. It was decided to ask permission to do so. The Chairman reported that the sehcol children had made an excellent
beginning in assisting to clean up the beach. He moved that a letter of appreciation he sent through the School Committee. Mr l’ilkington won tied. Carried. The question of further cleaning will be brought before the Cnutoil. as also the marking of the limit of the fencing line. It was decided to proceed without- delay with the further planting of marram grass. The Indies present urged that the bench should he cleaned up of the debris before the holidays arrived, and it was
thought this could lie arranged for. Pile material ns far as possible would ie buried. The question of prosecuting .hose creating nuisances on the beach iy depositing prohibited debris was mentioned and the matter is to I e ooked into with n view to stopping t habit which has very unsightly remits .
The Chairman expressed the hope that the fullest financial support would he given to the effort to raise additional funds by the Baddy's Market effort on Saturday. November 10th. The meeting concluded at 8.30 p.m.
