Taylor, who was on the night round, and was giving the others a lift, was serving a customer when the horse became restive. He jumped aboard the cart to cheek the animal, but before he could gain control the cart had been hacked on to the railway line right in front of the engine.

Tho cart was smashed to pieces and Mrs Burt, who was struck on the head was picked tip dead on the cattle stop. Taylor also was unconscious on the cattle-stop, while the hoy was thrown on to the cattle stop with lii.s leg: severly injured. The horse was uninjured. The remains of the cart were hurled along the lino, one wheel being found fifty feet away, but as tho harness was cut the horse escaped uninjured.
