A total ni ID.> riders out of the 27.5 entrant- started. East times were made. Though three Victorians oceepiod the leading places at the finish, Phil O'Shea. Hie New Zealand scratch mail, again sictired fastest time. He did the journey in "Ill's 51 min 41 sec. R. Wells (Victoria), who had Admin allowance, finished first. R. Osborne (Victoria) with dinin allowance, was second. C. Walls (Victoria) with min allowance, was third. The winner's time was —iit- .'{7min 0.-ec. At the finish O'Shea heat Beasley home by a bare length. The N Zealander swerved just before the was reached, and Beasley entered n protest. Inti this was dismissed. NEW lm MILE RECORD. MELBOURNE.
