THE HICKSON MISSION
AT PALMERSTON NORTH. PALMERSTON X., Oct. 23. Tho Hickson spiritual healing mission opened here to-day, when over five hundred sick people, many seriously eripx»led, assembled, in All Saints’ Church. .Many serious stretcher cases were accommodated in front of Die chancel, and pew seats were occupied with other sufferers. Many children were present, some of tho little sufferers being infants in arms. Following Mr Hickson’s address the laying on of hands commenced, the Bishop of AMellingtou, Dr Sprott, giving the Church’s blessing. Several cases of partial cures are reported. A girl from Wanganui, suffering from an affliction of the limbs, was carried into church and was able to walk away later without assistance. A lady from Wimbledon, near Dan novirko, who was suffering from heart lailnre and had her legs afflicted, later walked across the rest room unaided. Another sufferer from rheumatoid arthritis, who had not walked a step for nineteen years, later walked unassisted. Other cures reported included a. lady suffering from paralysis f the right arm, who is now able to move it, and a young girl who was suffering from paralysis is stated to be greatly lienefiited. A cure is reported from fhe Hickson mission. A blind man, who was leaving the church, exclaimed, "Look! f can see.” A girl from Bongo tea, who had been suffering from infantile paralysis, left the church as she entered—a cripple—but she is now reported to lie cured, and lias cast aside the use of splints. In a case from Masterion of a deaf and dumb girl, speech has now been restored.
-MISSION CONCLUDED. PALMERSTON NORTH, Oct. 23 The Hickson mission- was concluded last night uith a combined thanksgiving service, addressed by the Bishop of \\ ellington. The Bishop einplui-si-ed the power of corporate prayer, remarking that the people were witnessing the dawn of a. new day, understanding tile gospel. This morning several fresh cures were reported, including three eases from New Plymouth. A woman suffering with rlionmai.io troubles was a cot. case but is now able to sit up, and the use oi her hands is returning. Another "oman who has not walked for several months walked unaided after the service. An old man, Ml years of age, blind in one eye and partially in the other, had his sight much improved. His hip trouble was also much improved. A Masterion lady was cured o! a paralysed hand. Her son suffered Imm a paralysed leg and was carried to the church but he walked home alter the service. This morning a meeting of tho clergy of all denominations was held to consider a future campaign of carrying on the work.
