TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10th. The monthly meeting was held at the County Chambers at 7.10 p.m. Present: Dr Teiehelmann (President), .Messrs W. D. Macka.v, T. W. Duff, T W Bruce, W. J. Butler. D. .J. Evans. J. C. Alacfarlune and A. G. Pill iiugton. Apologv was made for the absence of Mr C .8. Balgliesh. Tht minutes of the previous meeting WIT continued and the outward correspondence was unproved. From the District Traffic .Manager, Greymouth, stating that the question of a through Christchurch train on .Saturday nights lmd been referred to the Head Office.—Received. .Mr Evans referred to the report appearing in lint: day's “Lyttelton Times,” and published ill another column of this i.-stie. It was resolved that the whole matter he referred to a local bodies’ meeting on Thursday night. From Sir Francis Bell stating he and the Minister of Public AA'orks could visit Hokitika on November 10th. with regard to a local celebration to mark the opening of the Arthur’s Pass tunnel.— Received. It was resolved to refer the matter to the local bodies for decision on Thursday evening. From Local Bodies’ Conference telerring matters for attention by the League.— Received, to he attended to. From Tourist Office, Wellington, stating a Tourist Office would be opened probably at Groyniouth.— Received. It was resolved to ask that the Branch Officer visit Westland its soon as possible Lo report, on the condition of local tourist resorts, and tlm best moans of improving access etc. prom Organiser.
