A sudden jump in the price of a loaf of bread to four hundred and eighty from thirty-four million marks infuriated the Berliners. The police dispersed the crowds of bread demonstrators in the various centres without lifficulty, hut so far they have been unable to (ieal with the organised hands of young men who dasli into the shops, seize the bread and disappear before tlie arrival of the polico.
The police in Leipzig used batons on the crowds after a number of shops had been looted.
