The Acting-Finance Minister gave important details as to the revenue and expenditure of the Dominion for the six months ended September 30th. compared with the same period of 11122. The Minister stated the revenue shows a net increase of £51(5.020. TTie principal increases are:—Customs. £»Lb--873 : Income- Tax, £1111.530. The decreases are:—Post and 1 clograp'i. £135.055; stamps, £25.740; Interest on Public moneys and miscellaneous £33‘b.111. The latter decrease is mainly c.Olio the fact that interest has not been recouped this year from the Discharged Soldiers’ Account, money required to account for re-issues and advances. ISA. Under the annual appropriations, there reductions in expenditurethat arc fairly general in all departments. the principal decreases being--Railways. L2SA.SAS -. Rost and Telegraph '£27.188: Health. £15.5-10; Industries and commerce, and wheat (nominal). £7A,f)A7. The main increases are: Pensions £22.825 ; Printing (Mhc ,- (nominal) £7A.R2A: Mental Hospitals. £10,502: Naval Defence. C-iO.ddA; Lands and Survey. L2O.RRO: Education, £<)!!,8-17; Defence, LIS.2A2. Taking the net increases in revenue and the decrease- in expenditure, the position is LR2I.A2A to the good compared with the same six mouths of 1922.

September, the- Waihi Gold Mining Coy., crushed and treated 10.258 tons of ore for a return of 5,819 fine ounces of gold and 11.917 ounces line silver approximately worth £29.000. The progress icpnrt of development, cabled from the London c-flice, included the following information :- No 2 level, north lode, value AI AS. No 8 level iii ward, lode intersected, first 82 lort. worth 11 9 per toil, next 19 feet, worth 81 9 pore ion. No II level (lowest) intersected n-ef, first I I feet worth R - per ton.
