SWIMMING CLUB.

The meeting called for last Monday night was well attended, when a definite scheme of operations for the coming season was discussed and decided upon. Air Af. H. Houston, who was voted to the Chair, explained the object of the meeting, that of forming a Club to bconlied tlie Hokitika Amateur Swimming Club when the following uflieers were elected for the incoming season :

Committee--Messrs Paterson, Stave. Icy. Richardson. Cutlmsli. Gibbons Hecnan. Rorgamini, Wliilcy. Gilloolv.

The Captain. Vice-Captain, Secretary and Mr li. Paterson were appointed siib-Committee in draw up rules and submit same to the general Committee. It was resolved that letters of thanks be sent to the Kanieri Power Company. Afr JI. Wliilev. and Mr V. .T. Butler, for their kindness in loaning the neeessatv gear in connection with the water supply to the Baths last, season. The Secretary was authorised to order a suitable motor pump and have same erected as soon as possible. The first week in January. 1021. was selected as the most suitable date for the visit of Afiss Gwitlia Sham), of Christchurch, the Secretary having reported that the N.Z. Swimming Council will grant permission for the visit- subject to the Club’s affiliation with the Centre, and promising all assistance in bringing some of Canterbury’s best swimmers across to compete at the Carnival to be held here during the Exhibition. The Chairman, with several others, eulogised the work of Air A. IF. Fawn, who conducted the Swimming t'arnivi.ls and generally controlled the working of the Baths last season, and congratulating him on the Balance Sherd submitted. which was as follows;.— The receipts, including public donations £i;3 Is 7d ; Borough Council gran!
