UNION COMPANY’S AORANOT. Additional details have been received regarding the new motor liner which is under construction at the yard of the Fairfield Shipbuilding Company lor the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand. TK> ve-sel. which will he of 20, f T".! ton- di-placement, will he the largest me tor ship In the world and-the largest vessel crossing the Pacific Ocean. Captain Crawford, of the Mahore, will leave his vo-sel at Auckland to-day. and proceed to England to supervise the lilting up of the new ship. The new vessel is to ho (-ailed the Aorangi, which i- the Maori nmno of Mount Cook, and the same mime iw a well-known Trans-Pacific liner of the Union Company in pre-war days. The ves-d! v ill he BOOH in length with 72P beam, and will be driven by four screws, the motive power being pro vided b\ internal combust ion engines of the shil/.er type. The space for passenger accommodation will le 1 ~ per cent greater than would be available if she were driven bv steam turbines with ok fuel. There will he provision for 020 passengers, of which -10(1 will ho in the first A feature of the aecointnoda!ion will !-e the large number of single and twoherth cabins installed, many having pi ivaie bathrooms attached. In the general design of the vessel there are several innovations. Tie cream mid -nda fountains will he one 1',.-:lure, and there will he a soft drink lounge on deck for first and secomT-ela.-s passengers. On the boat deck (here will he a gymnasium, which will he reached by two electric elevators from the lower deck. Compared with the former vessel ol the same name, she is a wonderful example of the advance of shipbuilding in 10 years. The old Anrnugi was built in 1 0 -:!, and before the war was often seen in Svdnov Harbour, with her slipper how, three masts, and a single funnel. The old Anrangi was engaged for many rears in the Union Royal mail line run ning from Pvdnev to Pan Francisco
