TIIE INSPECTORS’ VIEWS. WELLINGTON. Oct. 3. 'File Senior Inspectors, discussing the duties of headmasters, had before them a complaint tiiat children stayed too long in the primer classes. The Minister of Education said it had been alleged that some headmaster! neglected to train their pupil teachers. The Conference expressed the opinion that headmaster- should take a -hare ul the actual class-teacning, and that more speodv promotion of infants should he made, or otherwise they were II or IA before passing the sixth standard.
The opinion was expressed that- the Department should frame regulations indicating clearly the duties of headmasters in these matters.
The .Minister said the evil of too lengthy attendance in the infant classes wa- almost general in the Dominion.
