The weather was line but windy. An interesting day's racing was provided. There were smaller fields than on the previous days, but the winners were just as difficult- to anticipate. The surprise of tbe day was the defeat of Purser, who was regarded as unbeatable for the Craven Plate. The New Zealand representatives dwindled to a few, the bulk being scratched for various events. Set mid Hurdle#.—Cinn Robert 1. 1. Paddington 2. Hindi 3. Ten starters. Won by four 'lengths. Time Craven Plate.—Rivoli I. Harvest King Epicure 3. Won by 2', lengths Time 2.4 J. Rapine was scratched. Suburban Handicap.—Note I. Sir Maitland 2. All Wheat 3. Ten started. Won by 2 lengths. Time 1.38. Mcmliers’ Handicap.—Roy Francis 1. Duet 2. Coliarni 3. Won by half n neck. Time 2.~J. Giinraek Stakes.—Periwoi 1. K.T.A. 2. Secant 3. Twenty-four started. Won by a neck. Time 1.4. Sydney Handicap.—Dighton 1, U ildiin 2. Wallace Mortlake 3. Mon by half a neck. King's Trumpeter was never better than fourth.
