•JAMES MLRTAcH DROWNED. Word was reported to-day to the local police that James Murtagh. about 00 vears of ago. was drowned in the Hokitika river, above the traffic bridge to Koitorangi. It is not definitely known how the accident occurred, hut it is surmised that he fell ofl Ins horse when crossing the river above Morels. The body was found on the river bed above the* bridge tins morning. Further enquiries are being made by Constable Drummond. An inquest will be held.
