We regret to record the death of Mrs Staines, of Kunieri, which took place yesterday. The deceased lady "as •norn in County Cork. Ireland, whence -In- came to Victoria. She was married at lint licrglen. Victoria, to the late Mr 11. B. Staines, and the West Coast became their habitat in the early sixties. Her husband died some 1(1 years ago. Mrs Staines was one of the earliest pioneers of Westland, and her loss will lie sincerely felt among a largo number of friends and relatives who will miss her kindly, lovable personality. Deceased was 8b years of age, and leaves a family of two daughters (Mrs Robert Wells of Kaniori, and Mrs H. R. Preston, of Hokitika), and two sons (John and Thomas of Hokitika), one brother (Mr Thomas Sullivan, of Charters Towers), and also a number of grand children, and great grandchildren. The family will have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle ol fiicnds in the passing of a very worthy pioneer.
