An application for a Dominion award was filed to-day cm behalf of the New Zealand Federated Marine Cooks and Stewards’ Union, tl»e main points of difference from the present award being in regard to wages, overtime payments, and payment for work clone oil Sundays and holidays. The piesent award expires at the end of this month. Hours of work at sea. as proposed, are bebetwcn 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. for scullery men. (5.39 to 8 p.m. for other galley hands, and stewards on passenger boats and seven lo seven for stewards cm cargo boats. The port hours ol work sug gested vary according to the nature of the trade engaged in. Passenger or cargo and the ports called at, terminal or intermediate.
