A GIRL THIEF
WELLINGTON, Sept. 20
.Marion Jean Lewis, 22, appeared at tlie ALagistrate’s Court on five charges of breaking, entering, theft of jewellery, clothing and ornaments of a total value of £250, alleged to have been taken from various private homes. The police stated that the offences were all committed before 9 p.m. with one exception, during the absence of the owners. All the property was recovered. In one case the goods were wedding presents left in a house by a couple on their honeymoon. The accused had admitted all tlie offences and given the police all assistance. Evidence as to previous good character was given. A plea of guilty was given by counsel for accused, who after referring to the unusual nature of the case, asked for bail. Accused was committed for sentouae on bail of £2-50, a condition being tr.at the girl must remain with her parents.
