Mr. Asquith to-night made tho billowing statement. •‘Viscount Alorley’s death is not a tragedy, but it means the disappearance of the last survivor of a heroic age. He was my first political mentor, and, for upwards of thirty years, a wise counsellor, the host of comrades, and. in tho last years, an unfailing, di'toteil and rcveied friend. Only last week I had a letter from him which 1 shall always treasure. English literature and the great traditions of public life will he impoverished by bis loss. THE OBSEQUIES. LONDON, Sept. 21. The hotly of Lord Mnrley will ho cremated. The funeral lias been fixed at Colders Green for Thursday.
Mr. Llovd George telegraphed to Lady Mnrley:: “I lenrnl with deep regret of the death of your distinguished husband, and my old friend and colleague.”
