Koto- divorce cases were 10-day dealt w ith at the Supreme Court. Johanna Boyd sought dissolution from John Boyd, and it decree nisi was granted, to he made absolute in three months, petitioner to have custody of the child (Emily) in the interim, and costs being allowed on the lowest scale. Ocorge l-ttnu sought a divorce from Catherine Lunn. After argument, the petition was dismissed, respondent being allowed £3O costs, witnesses’ expenses and disbursements to be fixed bv the Registrar. Winifred Af. Dwyer asked lo have a decree made absolute as against Denis J. Dwyer, the motion being granted, petitioned getting custody of the child.

A lire last night broke out in the Arcadia Dry Cleaning Works, situated in the Arcade, and conducted by Robert MeXicoll. On the firemen entering the building Ai’cNieoll was found lying unconscious underneath the stairs. Pic had suffered very severe burns, and was conveyed to the Hospital. Apparently MeXicoll was using petrol in cleaning garments in the cellar when an explosion occurred, causing the building to catch fire. McXieoll is single and aged 30. All the earthquake refugees are now housed in temporary barracks built in the parks and hospitals have been established throughout the city for injured and sick. More than ten million yen for relief has been received from abroad. Fire and life insurance companies say with the Government assistance, they will begin paying claims within a. few davs.
