Criminal: Janies Edward Henry Smith, alleged breaking ami entering, w ith intent to commit crime, for trial. William Allred Cyril Rose, breaking and entering and theft, for sentence. Civil: John William Maloney v. Patrick Joseph Hon re, claim for possession of land. Divorce: Richard Rodger Hall v. .Marv Muv Hall, restitution of conjugal rights. imriTARY. The death took place yesterday afternoon of Mrs Harriet Coates at the age ol 91. years. Deceased, who was a native of Belfast. (Ireland), had resided at Creymuuth for ahout JO years, and was pre-deceased hy her husliand, an e\-Mayor of GToymoulli, many years ago. In the early days, they conducted a stole on Mawhera Quay. The Into Mrs Coates was prominent in connection with Holy Trinity Church work, and was one ol the founders ol the Sunday School at Oreymouth. in the

days before the first church was erected. She was of a very charitable nature, and was ready to assist anyone, partieualrly the old pioneers. She leaves' one son, Mr T. lb Coates, with whom she has resided io Alexandei Street for some years; also two daughters: -Mrs Litchfield, of Wellington, and Mrs Black, of Dunedin. GOLDEN WEDDING. Mr and Mrs William Weaver, of Mnrsden Road, celebrated their golden wedding vestorday. They have resided 17 years'in (ireymouth. Many congratulations were conveyed to the (.'OUplo. corin’ business. At the Magistrate’s Court, the licensee of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel and her daughter were lined :C2 and £1 respectively and costs, for selling li(|tior after hours. A number of Tcritorials were lined from 5s to Cl and costs for failing to attend parade. . Ronald L. Reid, of Blenheim, was charged with acting as a broker tor tne sale of opossum skins without a license. After hearing evidence, the Magistrate said it was clear there had^ been a breach of the regulations. The skins will he forfeit to the Crown and the line wili he a nominal one. lie line will be £5 and the skins will become the property of the Crown.
