The restoration of the 'I own Hall building is now completed almost. A'ory good work has been done, and the front of the finest wooden building in Hokitika is as impressive as ever. It is understood that the repairs and improvements have been carried out well within the estimate of £SOO, upon which the Borough Council authorised the work.
A quantity of tlio machinery for the new dairy factory centred at Hokitika, lias arrived, and has keen installed in position. The class of machinery procured is in keeping with the factors’ itself, and suggests at once that the now company is laying itself out for a large business within the district. The whole of the plant is modern, and arranged on labor saving lines.
To-morrow afternoon the Lades’ Hockey team journeys to Grovmouth to play a match with C'ohden. The following players will represent the Club: Misses J. Hall, I*. Sumner, K. Fowler, M. Sumner, AV. Thompson. A. Stapleton, X. Lock, 1). Tintland, J. Brown, S. Herring, J. Rosevear . Emergencies: K. Coles, K. Henderson, R. Speed. The bus will leave Clements Garage at 1.15 p.m.
At a meeting of the Ladies’ Committee of the Hospital Ball held last evening. Mrs Davidson presided over a good attendance of members. Misses .Moore and Foster (bon. secretaries) presented a report, showing the net proceeds would amount to £145. This, with subsidy of 24s in the £', would amount to £319. Mrs Davidson expressed appreciation of the manner in which all had worked to make the hall such a success, specially referring to the good work of Miss Moore. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all donors and those who had kindly assisted, and the meeting terminated.

A meeting of the Arts Committee fa connection with the Exhibition will be held at the County Chambers at 4.30 o’clock to-morrow afternoon.
On Wednesday evening the concert in aid of St. Joseph’s school takes place in the Public Hall, Kanieri. A capital programme has been arranged by the Sisters. A danco will follow the concert. A car leaves the Central Hotel corner to-morrow evening at 7.30 o’clock.
