RACING.
AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION PAPYRUS IX-1 UR ED. LONDON. Sep. 13. Weston rode Tranquil. Donoghiie rode Papyrus and Holme rode Teresina in the St. Leger. , Tho "Daily Telegraph" says: “Papyrus was assisted by Donogbue at his best, thus emerging successfully from a stiff ordeal. When Tranquil challenged, the issue hung in the balance for a moment. Then Tranquil forged ahead. Donogbue acknowledged defeat by easing his mount before he reached the post. It was a satisfactory race as a true test, though Papyrus had his hind leg cut below the hock, showing it must have been struck.” The “ Daily Telegraph ” does not for a moment suggest that this influenced the result. The “ Daily Chronicle" says: "Papyrus is cut about, and hied freely from two wounds.”
