WELLINGTON, Sept. 1 2 The Wanganui Golf (‘lull, which is conducting a oham])ioMshi]> meeting tliis month, lias refused to adopt the Xew Zealand Councirs method of drawing for places. The committee telegraphed stating that it' strongly resented the Councirs action and contended that every competitor should have equal treatment. The Council held a special meeting and decided to adhere to the system and directed the club to act accordingly. A covering letter objected to the tone and wording of the Club’s objection, and pointing out that the Council had full control, and if it were to he exposed to such behaviour might have to consider taking matters out of the Club's hands. The Council further stated that the method of the draw was designed to give the really good competitors a proper chance. Yielding to club pressure for financial reasons, the number of entries had been extended, but it was well known a number of these were poor players and they were not going to lie allowed to jeopardise the chances of good men. especially professionals.
