ADD IN CTO N STOOK MARKET. BEEF PRICES LOWER. (By Telegraph.—Special to Cuardiaa) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep.—An average yarding for this time of the year, and comprised mostly hoggets and wethers, a good number of the latter coming from the hack country owing to the inclement weather. The attendance was smaller than usual, and bidding was hardly as brisk, although anything good sold well. Best hoggets 25s 4d to 28s Gil, others 22s to 2-fs 9d ; best wethers 29/6 to 36s Dd ; others 21s fid to 28s. A few ewes were varded, making from 33s to 30s 9d.
Store Cattle.—A large entry, including several lines of decent steers and heifers. Bidding, however, was not so keen as tho last few sales, although one good lino of four-year old steers made £9. Prices were as follows:—Fouryear steers to £9, two and three-year .64 5s to £'4 12s Gd, eighteen months to
two years £2 10s to £3 os, yearlings 20s to 355, two and throe years heifers £2 10s to 355, eighteen months and two years 25s to 455, yearlings 15s to 235, good cows 40s to £3 ss. others 15s to 355.
Pigs.—A small entry of fat pigs came forward which met with a good demand. porkers selling at late rates. Baconers improved, and light porkers made £2 10s to £3, heavy £3 us to £3 15s. average price 9d to lOd; light baeoners Cl to £4 10s, heavy £4 15s to £5 Bs, extra heavy to £5 14s, average price 7d to 8(1 : choppers £3 to £8 according to quality. Store Pigs.—A large entry, v.liich met with a keen demand, prices all round showing an advance on late rates. Moaners, very small, made 235, good wearers 28s to 30s. small stores 29s to 335. medium 38s to 445, large r.p to 5Ss; sows in pig £4 to £7 10s. Beef.—There was a much larger yarding. comprising nearly 500 heal. The quality generally was very inegular, and the sale varied decidellv ttr.qvghout. Several outside c.iiHignm-.nts were yarded, including a lino f’om Southland and Chatham LI mis. The market was easier all l’onn. l -. showing an average drop of 20s to 40s per head. Prime steers made £l7 to £2O. extra to £24, medium 611 to .616 10s, others down to £9 I Os; prime heifers ,611 10s to £l4, extra to £lss 2s Gd, medium
£7 10s to £11; primo cows £lO to £l2 15s, extra to £l4, medium cows £7 to £los, others £4 5s to £0 15s. Hutton.—A comparatively small yarding, the quality generally being good, and included the first shorn ■sheep of the season. The market opened firmer and continued so throughout, showing an average rise of Is to Is 6d. Several exceptional lines of wethers were yarded. Prime wethers 43s 6d t>> 49s 6d, extra to 56s 3d; medium 39s to 43s ; lighter graziers’ sorts 35s 6d to 38s 0d: prime ewes 38s to 425, extra to lit; 10d, medium 31s to '37s; others down to 28s Cd; shorn wethers 31s to 41s Cd.
