[by TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] SOLDIER SETTLEMENTS. R EVALUATIC)N BOARD. ‘WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. Tn reply to an enquiry regarding what action is being taken under the provisions of the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act Amendment Act, 1923, the Hon \V. Nosworthv said Mr J. B. Thompson, Under-Secretary of Lands, was by the Act chairman of the Dominion Revaluation Board, and the appointment of -Mr F. W. Flanagan, Valuer-General, and It. A. Rodger, of Tapanui, as memliers of the Board appears in this week’s “Gazette.” The fourth member of the Dominion Board will he appointed at an early date. Action is being taken for the setting up of district revaluation committees, and in larger districts it is the intention to appoint at least two district committee*. Tho Act provides for the issue of regulations prescribing forms of application, valuation, etc., and such regaintions have bt*on prepared and will he gazetted at the earliest opportunity. The necessary forms arc being printed, and a circular letter, together with a copy of an application form will he forwarded to every soldier farmer coming within the scope of tho Act. '1 he circular letter and application form have been passed for printing, and it is expected that they "ill ho distributed next week. The applications, when received, will ho scheduled and arranged in the order of the settlement or districts, in order that the district committees may commence their duties as soon as they are set up. Soldier settlers under the Act have the right at any time within six month* of the passing of the Act, viz., any time up to and including Tobruarv 28th. next, to make application for revaluation, but in the interests of all parties it is desirable that the soldiers should make early application. Even - thing possible will he done to arrange the machinery for the working of the Act, and applications should he in the hands of soldier settlors towards the end of the next week.
