[by teleqeaph—per press association.] N.Z. LADIES’ CHAAIPIONSHIP. NELSON, Sept. G. The New Zealand Ladies Championship golf tourney opened on Tnlmnaiiui links this afternoon in glorious weather. The play was devoted to the inter-island match, resulting in a narrow win for the North by two games to one. The links were in good order, but. generally speaking, the visitors found th* greens too keen, combined, in some instances, with turf on the rough side, for true putting. The following are the results (the North Island players being mentioned first): Aliss Payton beat Aliss Craeroft Wilson 3 and 2; Mrs Slack and Aliss Dixon all square; Aliss Rubiosoii lost ito Miss Beadle four and three; Aliss Vigor-Brown lost to Aliss Acheson, one down : Mrs Collinson beat Airs Mowbray 3 and 1; Aliss Bell beat Afrs Kingscote 2 and 1.
